So i finished my aviator hat, actually 2 of them. And they’re both too big.
Pretty much all of the people who made this project on Ravelry said to use smaller needles than called for, so I did. The pattern calls for size 5 mm needles, so I used 4.5 mm. Way, way too big. It looks ridiculous on me. Chris said it looks like a space helmet.
So I made another with 3.5 mm needles. Still too big. Am I the loosest knitter ever? I don’t think so. But it’s still a space helmet.
I don’t know if I want to knit it a third time. It’s a fairly fast knit but I’ll have to frog two giant hats first. I didn’t weave any ends in because I knew as soon as I tried them on, they were going in the frog pile.
Besides the hugeness, aren’t those hat colors gorgeous? I used the patons soy wool solids. Natural berry and natural indigo.
