The Not-as-Wide Bag

Please excuse the adorably weird look on my face. This is the only picture of this bag that was in focus.

Exactly like the blue jean bag, but a little shorter and with blue snaps. The size is just right this time! The straps are a great length, too. They are perfect for holding in your hand and fit nicely over the shoulder as well.

I top stitched with red thread to match the lining. I’ll remember next time to change to a new needle before topstitching next time. It looks ok, but it could be neater.

New Bag Design

This is made out of recycled blue jeans! The lining is a lovely dark red and it closes with a snap. I put two pockets on the front that have a curved opening and the close with snaps, too. Overall, I really like the shape and the look, but it’s just a little too wide, I think. I didn’t use interfacing, so it does flop just a little. I think I’ll make more of the same except taking a few inches off the width.

Dancing Dress

This fabric is so soft and stretchy, I knew it would be a dress for me one day. The blue color was gorgeous. My friend asked me if I wanted to go dancing this Saturday night, so today was the day.

This was my first attempt at draping and it was harder than I thought it would be. I stuck myself with pins several times. Ow!

I started out with four rectangles and sewed them together in a T shape. I had to do a lot of pinning on the sides to get it fitted just right and I couldn’t decide how to do the sleeves. I must have stood in front of the mirror in my sewing room with pins in my mouth changing the top over and over again for an hour and a half.

The finished product:

fyi: I don’t wear that much makeup ever, unless I’m going dancing.

Shirt Pattern Design Progress

This is the second iteration of this pattern. The first time I made the sleeves both too short and too tight.

Good thing I have Deja to test all my patterns out on. I can grade them up or down once I get them exactly the way I want and the garments aren’t wasted because Deja can wear them.

This material is not reclaimed for once. It was in my stash and I don’t even remember if I bought it or if someone gave it to me. It’s stretchy blue cotton material, a slightly heavier than t-shirt feel, but very soft.

This is the shirt by itself: That was taken on the floor of my basement sewing room, sorry about the uber classy shot.

And this is the shirt on Deja:

The sleeves fit perfectly! And she really likes it. This blue looks so, so pretty with her hair. It’s close to the blue of that flared sweater I knit for her.

I think next time I’ll just do the gathers on the front and leave the back plain.

Mitered Bonnet pattern update

The size of hat in the original pattern will fit a size medium/large head. If your head is on the smaller side, use size 3.5 or 3.75 mm dpns, following the pattern just the same. This is the hat knit with 3.5 mm needles:

Even cuter, right? I love it.

I would say that’s a size small. I couldn’t find my 3.75 mm needles.
