As much as I love the teal handwarmers I just finished, they were too long to wear with a long-sleeved shirt. They felt a little bulky when I put them under or over my sleeves.  So I made a second pair that are much shorter. This is the same yarn I used for my flared legwarmers. so if I wear them together I can match obnoxiously.

I also cast onto two needles when I did the long-tail cast on and used the sewn cast off to make the edges more stretchy.

It’s really frigging cold in there!

My sewing room is in the basement and it’s pretty cold in the basement. I’m a cold person generally. I just don’t warm up or stay warm easily. Especially my hands.   I need to draw sketches, draw patterns, cut paper, pin and cut fabric and use a serger and a sewing machine in my sewing room. Any of those could go horribly wrong if I tried to do them with cold, numb hands. And a couple could end in personal injury!

So these are my prototype sewing handwarmers. The yarn is Red Heart Soft in this great dark teal colour. The pattern is Toasty by Leslie Friend. The original cast on of 40 stitches was too many, so I changed it to 32 instead.  Now they aren’t so wide. I think these are a little long for me, but that’s ok. I have a friend in mind who I think would like these!
